Seven Mile Island Seasonal Guide: What’s Happening This Fall

Summer's end doesn't mean the excitement stops in Avalon and Stone Harbor, with a robust lineup of fall events on the horizon. Kick off the season with the Amish Outlaws at the final summer concert, shop 'til you drop at Avalon's End-of-Summer Shop Hop, and enjoy local seafood, wine, brews, boos, and so much more. Read below for a full guide of fall fun!

Summer is slowly fading away here, but that doesn’t mean the fun goes with it! Avalon and Stone Harbor have a full calendar of fall events, including sales and shopping, seafood, wine and spirits, and seasonal celebrations. Don’t be sad that summer is ending, because, on the 7 Mile Island, it’s an Endless Summer!

One Last Concert? Amish Outlaws at Surfside Park | September 5

Surfside Park, 7-9pm

Come on, let’s do one more night out before the craziness of school, work, and sports schedules hits true. The popular Amish Outlaws are coming to play the final night of Thursdays at Surfside Park with refreshments provided by the Avalon Chamber.

Avalon’s End-of-Summer Shop Hop | September 6-8

Avalon Shopping District

Local shops and retail stores are open and ready to slash prices - so grab a friend, and hit the streets of Avalon to shop ‘til you drop. From clothing and accessories to home goods, beach gear, shoes, jewelry, and more - this is the weekend to restock and restyle. Oh and don’t forget to rest your feet and grab a cocktail or two, with special lunch and dining specials posted by Bobby Dee’s Rock’n Chair throughout the weekend.

The Barefoot Ball | September 7

ICONA Windrift, 5-9pm

Enjoy ocean views, cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, live music, and a lively live auction at the annual Barefoot Ball. This event is held to raise funds for the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children and its mission to provide free summer camp for visually impaired children. Campers are treated to one week of summer fun in Avalon including beach days, waterpark trips, concerts, and lifelong friendships.

Harvest Tide Celebration | September 14

Slack Tide Brewery, 12-6pm

Head to Slack Tide Brewery for a day filled with craft beers, live music, unique local vendors, and children’s activities. Admission to this event is free, and food will be provided by Smoker and Adel.

Savor September Weekend | September 20-21

Stone Harbor Shopping District

Savor the flavors of September at the shore during Savor September Weekend in Stone Harbor. The fun kicks off Friday evening with Save Diner En Blanc - with a special dinner celebration. Tables of 10 are $150 and individual seats are $25 and can be reserved by calling the Stone Harbor Welcome Center at 609-368-6101. On Saturday, stroll through Stone Harbor and enjoy live music, food vendors, artisan displays, kids activities, and of course, a tasting of the local breweries and wineries.

Music With Friends | September 28

The Whitebrier, 4-8pm

Enjoy a Saturday evening with great music, raising funds for a great cause. Friend In Need’s annual benefit concert, Music With Friends returns at The Whitebrier with sounds from Marnie & Nate, Out of Order, Short Wave, The Collective, Maintenance, and Curb Alert. These musicians dedicate their time and talent to help raise funds for Friend In Need, so come out and support our local singer/songwriters. The annual 50/50 winner will also be drawn at this event, and tickets will be on sale before the drawing.

Avalon Arts & Seafood Festival | October 12

Surfside Park, 10am-5pm

The Avalon Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Arts & Seafood Festival featuring more than 40 vendors offering original art, handmade jewelry, crafts, and home decor. Browse and shop, and enjoy fresh seafood from the island’s most popular restaurants and vendors. Live music throughout the day will include Michael Thompson and the popular Hickstown Road, and the Sound Advice Lounge returns offering beer and wine and live-streaming the day’s football games.

Sea Isle’s Harvest Classic | October 19

Excursion Park, 10am-3pm

Stroll through Excursion Park and enjoy a fall afternoon of shopping local vendors, and enjoying some fall fare from local restaurants. There will be children’s activities set up as well so the entire family can enjoy a fall day in Sea Isle City.

Stone Harbor Business District Trick or Treat | October 26

Stone Harbor Business District, 11am-4pm

Grab the kids and head to Stone Harbor for a fun day of early trick-or-treating. Participating stores in downtown Stone Harbor will be distributing treats and festive goodies to your little ghouls and goblins.

26th Annual Middle Township Harvest Festival | October 26

Downtown Cape May Court House, 10am-5pm

Stroll along Mechanic Street and shop from more than 100 craft vendors, explore the many food and beverage options, grab a dessert, and stop by to watch the dance performances. Children’s events include hayrides, face painting, balloon animals, pony rides, and a ton of crafts and fun!

Avalon Trunk or Treat | October 26

30th Street Parking Lot, 4:30-7pm

Whether you’re bringing the trunk or just plan to walk around, this is one of the most popular Halloween events in the country. For those planning to participate, all cars must be parked by 4:30pm, and the official event kicks off at 5pm. Enjoy a costume parade, hayrides, music, and special character visits, PLUS of course, trick-or-treating at the many bedazzled trucks and cars. 

Believe it or not, that’s just the lineup for September and October. November brings in the most wonderful time of the year, Thanksgiving Weekend on the 7 Mile Island featuring Festive Friday, Snowfest Saturday, the Stone Harbor Christmas Parade, Merchant’s Hospitality Night, and of course, SANTA! Stay tuned because this weekend deserves an article on its own.
