Avalon New Jersey: Patrice Davis' Inspirational Home Base

I'm currently a Lead Copywriter and Project Manager at She Converts, a Done-For-You Digital Marketing Agency based in Utah. I am a huge proponent of working remotely, and while a digital nomad can work whenever and wherever, I am happy to be able to create content with the ocean as inspiration.

A graduate of Public Relations from Seton Hall University, I have worked in the heart around the 7 Mile Beach (the 7 miles that compromise Avalon and Stone Harbor, NJ) for more than a decade, with experience in event planning, tourism marketing, journalism, and fundraising. I love this area of the Jersey Shore, and this unique place outside of Cape May Court House allows me to create captivating content of all the things I love the most - the beach, dining, entertainment, activities, and family.

Avalon, New Jersey isn't just where I live; it's where my heart belongs. My content covers the 7 Mile Island and draws inspiration from its beautiful and tranquil beaches along the South Jersey Shore. This area boasts a small, unique community that works tirelessly to promote this county, creating a bustling tourism industry with all aspects of business from shopping, dining, music, nature, boating, and more. While Cape May County is primarily a tourist destination, those who live and work within it have created a small-town vibe that supports each other and our families year-round. The charm of Avalon, NJ lies in its deep roots and the allure of its beautiful beaches along the Atlantic Ocean.

Yes! Locals celebrate October 1st as the "right on red" day, which is also when the light at 25th and Dune Drive in Avalon changes. The summer might be over once Labor Day hits, but locals enjoy an endless summer through the fall with a ton of activities and fun things planned for all ages including seafood festivals, winery and brewery tours, and of course, days enjoying the surf and sand.

Surprisingly to many of our second homeowners and visitors, there are a number of education options for all ages. Specifically, a local PreK3-Grade 8 elementary school that spans two buildings in Avalon and Stone Harbor.

A lot! Not only are locals recovering from a VERY busy tourism season, but they are also planning for next year, with new business ventures, menu planning, bands booked, special events booked, etc. Tourism season is a year-round business, and the locals do their best to keep Cape May County as one of the premier tourist destinations on the East Coast.

That being said...you will certainly catch a few "out of office" notes if the waves are good, or the fish are biting. Hey, locals need to catch some relaxation when it's available!

Speaking of relaxation, life is not just about work, and I firmly believe in finding joy in hobbies and fun activities. I am the President of a locally-based non-profit, Friend In Need, and also enjoy planning weddings, parties, and special events with my side hustle, Miner Details. Needless to say, I keep busy, but when it comes to covering this beautiful location, I'm your person!

Chasing sunsets? The best place to catch the sunset is the nightly Sunset Ceremony at The Reeds at Shelter Haven. It's a must-do!
