June 17, 2024 - Project Update
Avalon's ongoing sand back passing project has seen significant updates to its schedule, enhancing safety and efficiency thanks to efforts by Avalon's Mayor John McCorristin. The project, critical for addressing erosion at the town's north end, now operates during optimized hours to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.
Recent Updates
Under the supervision of Avalon's engineer, the work is now strictly conducted between the hours of 2am and 10am, Monday through Friday, with a pause during the weekends. This allows beachgoers to enjoy unimpeded access during peak hours and weekends.
This new timetable was adjusted starting June 14, and was successful in maximizing efficiency and successfully opening the 12th and 10th Street beach paths, opening them ahead of schedule.
As of June 17, the project's improved overnight scheduling allowed for the reopening of the 11th Street beach path, marking all beach paths in Avalon as accessible to the public. The adjusted work hours ensure that operations conclude before Beach Patrol duties begin at 10am, maintaining beach safety and accessibility.
This proactive approach in managing the sand back passing project further demonstrates the Borough's dedication to maintaining its beaches safely and efficiency.
